Abstract

Here, the facile strategy of preparing filamentous copper phthalocyanine (CuPc) based gas sensors using a solution method was studied. Electrical and gas sensitive properties of filamentous CuPc films transistors were studied in detail. The filamentous CuPc films had a three-dimensional and porous structure, the gas analytes could interact more effectively with the gas sensitive layers, and the efficiency of charge carrier conversion into conductive channel increased, thus improving the sensing performance of the sensors. The relative responsivities of 75 mg mL−1 filamentous CuPc films sensors to 20 ppm NO2 gas were 32797%. The response rate was 80%. The sensitivity was 1492%/ppm. The LOD was 0.3 ppm. The successful preparation of filamentous CuPc films and their application in sensors lay a foundation for the future application of phthalocyanine materials in the field of flexible sensing.

NJC (New Journal of Chemistry) is a broad-based primary journal encompassing all branches of chemistry and its sub-disciplines. It contains full research articles, communications, perspectives and focus articles. This well-established journal, owned by the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) of France, has been co-published with the Royal Society of Chemistry since January 1998. NJC is the forum for the publication of high-quality, original and significant work that opens new directions in chemistry or other scientific disciplines. In addition to having a significant chemical component, work published in NJC must demonstrate that it will have an impact on areas of research other than that of the reported work.
