Abstract

A simple and green synthesis protocol has been employed to get Ca-ada (calcium-adamantanecarboxylate), the precursor to a hybrid organic–inorganic composite material for high temperature CO2 capture applications. The resultant hybrid material shows near 100 percent carbonation at high temperature. It shows excellent CO2 cycling performance under flue gas conditions (14% CO2) and retains close to 94.4% of its initial capture capacity after 10 cycles. The cycling behaviour of the sample was also tested under harsh regeneration conditions (80% CO2, 920 °C). The resultant hybrid out performs CaO derived from Ca(OH)2 and limestone both in terms of CO2 capture and cycling performance.
