Compounds with a gallium–alkaline earth metal bond, [(η5-C5Me5)2Ca–Ga(η5-C5Me5)], [(η5-C5Me5)2(THF)Sr–Ga(η5-C5Me5)], and [(η5-C5Me5)2Ba–{Ga(η5-C5Me5)}2], were prepared.
