Abstract

Well ordered bridged organosilica highly functionalised with disulfide groups were obtained by self-assembly of α,ω-bis(trimethoxysilyl)alkyldisulfide under hydrophilic conditions; the reduction of disulfide cores to SH groups gave rise to material having a high mercury ion adsorption capacity.
